Presenting our Force Feedback racing wheel buyers guide for the PS3 and PC. We get a lot of enquiries about which wheel to buy and it's mainly about Gran Turismo 5. We decided to put together this guide, to tell you about 10 Force Feedback wheel and pedal sets that work great on the PS3 and the PC as well.

Jessica test drove every one and along with Darin, tell you how much each wheel is, a few details about each so that you can decide, which wheel is best for you. We put 10 wheels in this guide to give you a wide range to choose from and check out. From Logitech we look at the Black Momo, Driving Force Pro, Driving Force GT, G25 & G27. Then from Fanatec we check out the Carerra, 911 GT3 RS and GT2 and finally two entries from Thrustmaster the F430 and new T500RS.

This guide is here to help you make a decision and see what's available, or not really available..

Thanks for the show. It might be nice to hear a little more about quality vs price on the T500 vs. Fanatec and Logitech. I'd expect the T500 to be etter but how much better? Is it worth an upgrade from the Logitech g25 or Fanatec? Also, how did you find those pedals vs. the Logitech or Clubsports? Perhaps the T500 review will address these questions.

Loving the show. I was just wondering if there is any way of using a G25 with a set of club sports. I use a ps3 for GT5 and F1 2010. I saw a video on youtube with a guy using a g27 wheel with clubsports with f1 2010. I guess it was on PC as he had a triple screen set up too. If this can be done, i wondered if it is worth the move from logitech to clubsport pedals? Lastly, i'm getting a GT Omega Racing rig (thanks for your review on that too). Can the clubsport pedals be mounted to this rig?

Thanks

Jon

TheG25 pedals aren't that great IMO, the clubsports would be a fantastic upgrade over them. I don't think you can use them with the PS3 without a fanatec wheel though.

Well, I agree with this and your previous judgement on the F430 with GT5. No setup available and weak FFB.
I placed my order with Fanatec for the GT 2 after watching your review and i have to say that communication has been good. Not immediate but good. I asked them to make an exception regarding shipping and they did, no issues there. I consider that good customer service. I still haven't received the wheel so we'll se how they both compare.
Now that I got in the top of the line you guys say the top of the line is the T500RS? I am behind the top of the line power curve confused LOL. Anyway, great show as usual, throughly enjoyed it.

I'm not getting it... the T500RS ... why is there a clutch pedal when you get no h-pattern shifter ?
should I use the clutch with the flappy pedals on the wheel ?
that does not feel right ?!?
Maybe they will offer a 200$ h-pattern shifter soon as upgrade option soon.

I think that was one criterion that was left out when comparing the "Fanatec GT2 pack" ( which is 500$ an comes with the clubsport pedals and a h-pattern shifter plus sequential shifter already included ) .

what i want to say is that fanatec 500$ VS Thrustmaster 600$ is not a fair comparison because with the T500RS you get no shifter (except the the flappy pedal gearbox thingy).

anyway , great show as always !

I would like to apologize for the triple posting, Internet was really slow and I honestly thought it had not even saved. I am sorry.

Hi,
Nice overview of the available wheels.
I am currently trying to decide between the Thrustmaster T500RS and the Fanatec GT2 kit.
Be aware that AFAICT Fanatec is not offering the kit (wheel and CSP) at this moments. That means the price for a preorder would run $450.00USD.
The Thrustmaster T500RS can be found at some vendors for $560. The Xbox360 compatability is a nice option sorely lacking on the T500RS.
tough call...I am leaning towards the T500RS (this week! LOL ) due to it being available relatively soon. Fanatec is not winning me to their sidee with the numerous complaints of poor customer relations and shipping issues (yes, i know they are a small company). Fanatec said their wheel will not available until mid-May 2011. Throw in shipping times and i bet one would be lucky to see it in mid-June 2011 ! big surprise

Well, 600 really still isn't anything on the scale of sim racing hardware. The ECCI 7000 is like 2k just for the wheel, the Frex FFB wheel is in the 1-2k range as well. So if the T500 really feels more like a frex/ecci and is only 600 bucks it's really a bargain. I don't think I like the pedals much though, I'd probably just try and sell them if they can be used stand alone.

I wouldn't buy the T500 because its too expensive with no sequential shift

I play iRacing with a shifter... not padels.... might be good for f12010 and gt5 but that's about it .... every other game I play I need a shifter

i'm not paying another $100 or more for another peripheral to go with a $600 wheel.... that's laughable ... not saying you guys are wrong I'm sure its a top notch product

Just saying from a consumer point of view ... not a reviewer... its not the best choice 'value for money' IMHO....

I use a fanatec gt3rs v2 with clubsportpedals on pc and ps3 and is perfect with many settings.

No reason to get a 911 Carrera with CSP.
160 + 200 = 360
GT3 RS CSE = 320

Thank you guys, I follow you for a few days to help me for a driving wheel buying (I saved the money for months), and this video helped me in my decision to the Fanatec GT2, mainly because I'm a both PS3 and Xbox driver (and also Pc since I bought Race07 last week and rFactor yesterday ; ).
I'll keep going following you; I wish you the best for your website and iracing, and I allow myself to send you kisses from France, especially to Jessica B)

Thanks to insidesimracing.com, your passion cross the world
