youtube High Quality digg facebook delicious
A wheel buyers guide to Forza Motorsport 4 and the Xbox 360. The Xbox has always been short on peripherals until now and that comes just in time for the release of Forza Motorsport 4. In this video wee cover everything from playing with a controller to the new Fanatec CSR Elite while that is compatible with the xbox 360. We also cover some of the pedals that are available as well as shifters to round out the entire FM4 experience.

Enjoy your guys show, but it's a total conflict of interest to be a Fanatec Rep AND be presenting a BUYERS GUIDE/REVIEW of wheels to purchase on your show. Like I said, always been a fan of you guys and the show, but really disappointed in your level of integrity regarding this. As a critical voice, you have to be above this if you want to be taken seriously.

Loved the video guys! Really well done..
I have been brutally confused with the CSR and CSR Elite!
Looks like am not playing Forza 4 till "Later this Year" :D
I guess GT5 - 2.0 should suffice till then.. Well, that and F1 2011 on the PS3.. :(
Really have to upgrade my wheel from G25..
Based in India, I will have to spend pretty much 50% more than what others will have to pay for the CSR Elite with Clubsport pedals and Shifter Set.. But from what I can say, it's gonna be WORTH IT!! smile
Thanks again Shaun & Darin! (y) :thumbs up:

Hi Shaun and DArin,

Thanks for an informative video. I enjoyed watching it very much and it helped clear up the confusion about CSR and CSR Elite wheels.

However, I agree with B.Haywood on the perception of conflict of interest having Darin doing this segment (or any segment where there is a conflict of interest with his role with Fanatec and Insidesimracing).

I understand that you guys are totally above board and I respect everything you do for sim racing and the time you spend to share it with the sim racing community, but you need to make sure that you are still seen as an unbiased viewpoint when reviewing wheels or other products that compete with Fanatec. I'm especially worried if competitors to Fanatec feel there is a conflict of interest because they might decide not to send you stuff to review for your show.

To get around this I recommend that you bring in Tom Haake for these segments and if you want to focus on what Fanatec does, get Darin to put on his official Fanatec hat and put it up as a seperate video.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy your show and respect everything you do, and the purpose of these comments are to provide you with constructive feedback so that you can make any adjustments you need to make to presentations before this conflict of interest perception gains momentum.

Hi BW,

Thanks for the concern. I'd like to remind you that this wasn't a review.. wink It's a guide to let people know what products are available for the 360.

As a Fanatec rep and reporter for Inside Sim Racing, I felt it was my duty to explain the differences in Fanatec gear becauuse of all the options and new items. Matter of fact, this guide was my idea and it was my idea to add all the options we did at the start of the show. wink

In regards to Fanatecs competitors not getting us things.. Have you seen the F1 Ferrari Thrustmaster video ? Also, FYI, Shaun was on the phone with them yesterday and our relationship has never been stronger.

I will not be reviewing any Fanatec product or any product that is in competition with Fanatec. Tom Haake is no longer with us, but someone else will be coming along hopefully soon.

I don't think there's any momentum on this percieved conflict of interest. If there was, I would step away completely from one or the other..

Is there really a difference between what I'm doing and us having any of our current sponsors on board ? Fanatec and all of our sponsors have a very clear understanding that we will continue our unbiased coverage of this industry regardless of our relationships.. We hope you feel the same way.

Best Regards,

Darin Gangi

I felt the buyers guide was just that, a buyers guide of what is out there and no other company has as many options for xbox360 users than Fanatec. Three times the number that Thrustmaster offers and I'm not familiar with any other company supporting xbox this way with quality products that have multiple price points.

The one and only other offering I am aware of is from Thrustmaster and that particular xbox wheel is not listed as being available in Canada when I used Thrustmaster's product search.

I do not see any conflict of interest on Darin's behalf especially when that relationship is completely transparent and every effort has been made to inform the viewing audience.

I came to understand much more clearly what the options were of available products and what price points exist for xbox supported products.

Well done fellows.

Darin & Shaun,

I agree with B Hayward's comment. This was a total bias towards Fanatec and Darin you even admitted this in the video. You did touch bases with the other competitors but you had none of there products to show at all yet you had Fanatecs whole line on display. This should have been titled "Fanatec Forza 4 Wheel buyers guide" Shame on you!!!

I would like to support Darin and Shaun on the question of integrity and conflict of interest.

When I first started watching this video I wondered why Darin was there as it would be an obvious conflict of interest.

However, having watched the show for almost a year now, I don't think anything Darin said conflicted with his previous (before he was with Fanatec) comments about any wheel discussed. The guys have always said that Fanatec was the top-of-the-line option for XBOX.

Had Darin said that a brand other than Fanatec was the best wheel for XBOX in the past then did a complete 180 degree turn and now suddenly supported Fanatec as the best wheel, I'd completely agree that there is a conflict of interest and question the integrity of the show.

C'mon guys. We all know that Fanatec wheels are pretty much the unchallenged winner when it comes to what's available for XBOX.

Personally, I think Darin has the integrity to honestly and fairly review any wheel regardless of now being a Fanatec employee.

P.S. - Gonna miss Tom Haake and what he brought to the show.

Hi Radzdza,

We have no idea as the specs fort the "720" haven't been announced yet. We hope they will be compatible.

Hi Darin and Shaun,

Could you answer the question about CSR Elite? Will it CSR E be compatible with the new Xbox 720 (or whatever it will be called). I can't afford to spend 700Euro for the wheel knowing that it will not work with the new console.

Thanks
